To our viewers,
Our team decided to focus our efforts on sharing a more detailed perspective into International Women’s Day. As many of us strongly identify with, advocate for, or celebrate the holiday we saw it as vital to share a more in-depth look at the history behind the empowerment, and those organizations and individuals striving to enact change. As we’ve all explored the “thinking anthropologically” concepts our gallery will focus-in on and portray how gender is a relation of a plethora of different powers by seeing the work our organizations are doing with every race and every class, all over the globe. Seeing the history behind and reason International Women’s Day was created is a clear display of how culture can be transmitted through social interaction and movement, even the way we choose to celebrate and support the holiday portrays that as well. As a group, we’re aware that some of you may not fully agree with International Women’s day as a whole or may not have any knowledge of it at all. As you work your way through our gallery we want to educate and help broaden your perspective, and for those who do celebrate or advocate for the day, we too, hope you leave with a new aspect of knowledge or appreciation. As a whole, let’s continue to fight for equality and support and show appreciation for not only the women in our lives, but those women around the globe in need of change.
